Within a dotted circle, ‘al-sulṭān Muẓaffar al-Dīn Shāh Qājār’ (‘Sultan Muzaffar al-Din Shah Qajar’ in Persian); below, ‘1317’ (in Persian); in the margin, the couplet ‘har shir del ke doshman-e shah rā enān gereft / az āftāb-e hemmat-e mā in neshān gereft’ (‘Every lion-hearted person who took the rein of the King’s enemy, received this medal from the sun of our ambition’ in Persian).
